Medieval Wickwar Village Fair – Sept 2008

After a horrendous wet summer we all prayed for a sunny day so that our 26th Annual Village Fair could get off to a great start. Thankfully on the day the sun dared to show its face and this together with the local residents, their extended families who came to join the PTA and other local village groups made it a fun filled afternoon.

With a Medieval theme in mind, many PTA members and helpers joined in with medieval fancy dress costumes. In addition to this the fabulous bird of prey exhibition and medieval jousting helped to keep the theme going and were amongst the most popular attractions.

Stalls were in abundance, not to mention the never ending Tombola queue and the ever popular Body Zone with face painting, tattoos and hair braiding, with many a child sporting their additions the following Monday at school.

As usual the Craft and Produce Show was very well supported. Congratulations to all who won a prize and I hope that all who brought some produce enjoyed their purchase.

Food and drink was in abundance on the day with cakes, waffles, tea and coffee, a superb BBQ and bar available all throughout the afternoon.

As 4 o’clock came and went and the auction took hold, many stayed on for more fun and excitement adding further to the great afternoon.

Many, many people helped to plan and organise the day before, help on the stalls and clear up afterwards. I cannot mention everyone as the page is not big enough and for fear of missing someone off.

We have now had our final figures in and you all helped us to raise an amazing £2800 for the school alone.
