The day of the Wickwar Games arrived and although the rain came down (just for a change) it didn’t dampen any spirits and a total of 63 runners duly turned up to register for the 10th annual Wickwar Fun Run.

With ages ranging from 6–60+ they all battled against the elements to complete the 5k course.
The first past the post was Dave Stott who completed the course in just over 20 minutes and who took home the coveted, Wickwar Games Fun Run Shield – congratulations Dave!!

The first, second and third runners across the line from each category then collected a Wickwar Games drinking bottle in addition to their winner’s medal with on the spot additional prizes (kindly donated by Sweatshop).
Congratulations and well done to our category winners:
Everyone else who completed the run and passed the finishing line also received a winner’s medal and congratulations must go to you all, you should be REALLY proud of yourselves!!

A HUGE thank you must go to Tracy Ryder who organised all the behind the scenes bits and pieces in the run up to the day itself and also ensured that on the morning it all ran extremely smoothly with no hiccups!! Another BIG thank you must also go to Andy Cleave who kindly used his local/running knowledge to construct our route again for us as well as putting out all the signs around the village with Tracy before the run itself, in addition to being heavily involved in the traditional village sports day races and the increasingly popular Tug of War.
Finally another set of thank you’s must go to all our set up helpers, marshalls, registration ladies and to those of you that handed out the all important medals and cheered very loudly at the finishing line – we couldn’t do it without you!!!
