The day of the Fun Run arrived and the lovely sunny weather held for us (even with a strong breeze) and as a result a grand total of 131 runners duly turned up to register for the 8th Wickwar Fun Run.
Although individual times were not recorded, the first past the post was Matt Dickinson who completed the course in an amazing 20 minutes and 21 seconds beating last year’s winner by 29 seconds and who also took home the coveted, shiny Wickwar Fun Run 2010 trophy!!
The fastest runner across the line from each category then collected a gold medal.
Congratulations and well done to:
Everyone else who completed the run and passed the finishing line received a winner’s medal and congratulations must go to you all, you should be REALLY proud of yourselves, especially those of you that were pushing buggy’s all the way around!!
A HUGE thank you must go to Tracy Ryder who organised all the important behind the scenes bits and pieces in the run up to the day and a special thank you to Jenny Broad who not only worked with Tracy in the run up but also ensured that on the day itself the morning ran extremely smoothly with no hiccups!! Another thank you must also go to Andy Cleave who helped organise the marshalls, put out all the signs around the village before the run itself and was there to show support to his own village running team ‘Andy’s Cleavages!’
Finally a BIG thank you must go to all our setting up helpers, marshalls, refreshment ladies, registration ladies, children who handed out the all important medals at the finishing line and to Jackie our stopwatch lady!
Without all these volunteers who constantly give up their spare time (and their precious Sunday morning), this type of event could not happen.
PS Photos coming soon!
